Title: The Olmecs ( The African Presence in Ancient Mexico)
Description: The general purpose of this lecture is to examine the African themes in America's Pre-Columbian civilizations. Particula emphasis is placed on the probability of a seminal contac between the America's and the African civilizations of Ancient Egypt (Kemet) and Ethiopia (Cush) between 800 and 1200 BCE. The defining moments of early American civilization were accompanied by massive, and distinctively, "Negroid" sculptured heads. Many, such as the late J.M. Melgar in 1871, believe that the very beginning of civilization in the America's saw a heavy influence by Blacks.
